Bal and Ben

Picture Report by Frank Gradwell

Just to prove we didnt lose all the Irish Sea sailings to the weather or engine trouble, here are a few shots from last Saturday's (19 May 2001) visit to the Isle of Man from Whitehaven in Cumbria.   Sorry there isn't a lot more, but I found a blues festival at Laxey where they also sell Okells bitter.

The Balmoral lies at Douglas as the Isle of Man Steam Packet's Ben-my-Chree approaches

As Seacat Isle of Man sweeps out of the Harbour, the Bal sets off for her afternoon cruise to the Calf of Man

At dusk, Balmoral backs away from Whitehaven

P.S. This is a shot of my latest project, a 1950 Leyland Beaver which is taxing my skills and patience, but which is slowly coming round to the type of reliability I expect.   Now do you think it might make a good imitation MacBraynes travelling ticket (Passenger Registration) office if I can get a few more MPH out of it??
