Waverley on the South Coast Part 4

Report by Jenny Longhurst

The El Camino Espanol (A05), a Spanish naval auxiliary, was about to sail as we left Portsmouth

HMS Quorn (M41) entered the Harbour as we left - note the dipped ensign and the Spinnaker Tower, now open

Approaching Lulworth Cove

Lulworth village inside the Cove

With the absence of Swanage calls and being lucky enough to sail close to the coast as firing on the Artillery Range had just stopped, we were able to go further west than in previous years - note Portland Bill in the background as we turned

The sun was catching the Jurassic coast in a spectacular manner

The steamer sailed all day with her ensign at half mast in memory of Commander Tom Foden, a stalwart supporter who was for many years Waverley's agent on the Bristol Channel
