Busy Final Week on the Clyde for Waverley

This picture shows Waverley leaving leaving Rothesay for Tighnabruaich at 2pm on Saturday 25 August 2001. The ship had carried a full capacity of over nine hundred passengers into Dunoon an hour earlier for the annual 'Cowal Games.'

Waverley's three pursers Jim McFadzean, Walter Bowie and David Edwards were having a busy day, to say the least - as were the catering crew headed by Paul Semple. Captain Steve College was in command with Captain Fraser, a Forth Ports Authority pilot, serving as Chief Officer, while Captains Graeme Gellatly and Iain Jamieson took some leave before Waverley's sojourn in the South Coast and Thames.

Paul Semple, Chief Steward, departed after this sailing to take up his new studies at the University of Strathclyde and farewell on Friday to Tommy Reilly, who has served as Bosun since last season and his wife, Roni, who has been a stalwart of the catering department this year.

In the engine room this weekend are Chief Engineers Stephen Leigh and Andy Steele and Second Engineer Gordon Reid, while usual 'Chief' Ken Henderson' takes some leave.
