Crew Assembling - News on 7 August 2000

 

The Inclining Test has been completed and the provisional results are satisfactory. Both boilers have been steamed, the first fire having been lit on 5th August. The functions of the two funnels are unchanged - Forward: boiler uptakes now in the form of two flues - Aft: generator exhaust. It is expected that the main engine will be turned in a few days. The crew has started to assemble at Great Yarmouth, including Captain Graeme Gellatly, Chief Officer Ian Jamieson, Chief Engineer Ken Henderson and Catering Manager Craig Peacock.
